New Regulations Extend TN Period of Validity to Three (3) Years.

Citizens of Seven Additional Countries to be Allowed to Travel to the US Without Visitor Visas.

New Regulations Extend TN Period of Validity to Three (3) Years. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued regulations on October 16, 2008 increasing the time allowed for TN visa holders to three (3) years following an initial application or an extension. This means that TN extensions will not have to be obtained every year as has been the case. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican citizens to fill specific professional positions. A list of the TN professions can be found at http://www.smarksassociates.com/tnlist.

Citizens of Seven Additional Countries to be Allowed to Travel to the US Without Visitor Visas. The Visa Waiver Program currently allows the citizens of 27 countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business without obtaining a visa. Persons entering the United States without a visa must travel only for business, pleasure, or transit; stay in the United States for 90 days or less; and, if arriving by sea or air, hold a valid ticket for return or onward travel and enter the United States aboard an air or sea carrier designated as a participant in the program. The White House has announced that the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, and South Korea have been approved for the Visa Waiver Program and that citizens of these additional countries will be able to travel to the United States under this program in about a month.
